Intel Corporation Chipset MEI Controller (http://software.intel.com/en-us/arti...-acronym-list/) requires HECI: "the Intel Management Engine Interface (aka HECI: Host Embedded Controller Interface ) enables communication between the host OS and the Management Engine firmware": http://lwn.net/Articles/261712/. Should be a kernel module produced by the appropriate configuration compile time option (http://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/HECI.html) but only in kernels up to 2.6.31 (see http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source...eci.c?v=2.6.31) else see leads http://software.intel.com/en-us/blog...now-available/ (2007) and http://sourceforge.net/projects/openamt/files/heci/ (2008) and the LKML.
