Did you create a root pasword during installation? If so, answer 'root' as login and your *password* a password. Else just type root and press enter.

the install process normally gets you to choose a user name and user password - also a root (thats what the "superuser" is called) password, but will allow you to choose a "no root password" option.

If it shows you a blank screen with the parts that you've quoted, then it's not starting a graphical interface either.

so you either put in the user name you chose after the "localhost login" and then hit enter and then put in the user password and hit enter, which would log you in as the "normal" user, or as already mentioned, you put in "root" and hit enter, followed by the root password you may have chosen during install and hit enter.

Note: if you don't get a nice easy graphical interface, but something like amientaf@localhost $ which indicates you are in the user account, but in a command line interface or root@localhost # or root.amientaf@localhost # either of which, tells you that you are in the root (superuser) login, but still command line interface.

If none of these work, you should probably just run the install disc(s) again, but read the onscreen text very carefully to make sure that you add, both a username and password, and a root password.

It can be corrected as you currently have it set up, but it'd take a hell of a lot more typing to explain that.

regards

John

p.s. Oh and it might be sensible, for you to change your LQ profile, so that you include a location, because you can often be directed to native language assistance if you are not a "first language english speaker".
