Are Ubuntu16.04 and Ubuntu18.04 compatible with Solid and Inrupt?

Are Ubuntu16.04 and Ubuntu18.04 compatible with Solid and Inrupt? Does anyone have experience with these? I am wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of trying this in Linux.

I am ashamed to say that I had never heard of them. Thanks to your question, I know more (than zero) now.

From the web site:
Quote:
Solid is a set of modular specifications, which build on, and extend the founding technology of the world wide web (HTTP, REST, HTML). They are 100% backwards compatible with the existing web.
I can't conceive of a general purpose computer operating system that doesn't support the web nowadays, specifically HTTP and HTML (REST is a philosophy more than a protocol or language).

Thus, the answer must be yes as far as Solid is concerned.

Inrupt is a company. I am not sure how you would define compatibility with a company.

As it happens, I'm just starting work on an article on Solid and Inrupt for Linux Journal. While I'll probably know a bit more after some research, I agree with @berndbausch. For now at least, the Solid project is more focused on two things: helping users create and develop their Personal Online DataStores (PODs), and attracting developers to create integrations with people's PODs.

If you haven't yet, open any browser (on Ubuntu or anything else), register and create your own POD here: https://solid.community/

For those whose curiosity is piqued, here's how Tim Berners-Lee introduced Inrupt to the world: https://www.fastcompany.com/90243936...world-wide-web

There's a lot more at both the Inrupt and Solid Project sites.

Thank you for the replies. It sounds like this is too advanced for me. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me.
