Are some Linux distrobutions only demos?

I ask this because I had RedHat 9, and after about 10 days (ish) I stopped reciving errata updates and I had an email saying, that I could subscibe to get the updates

RedHat 9 is rather old and actually support for it has been discontinued. The Fedora project has taken over after the RedHat distributions:

In my opinion, this is the perfect Linux distribution for an intermediate to advanced user.
