Apps open under current window
Hi!
Used to be when ever I open an app like libre office, it would open on top of the current open window like desktop or home etc. Now all apps open under the current open window. Can this be fixed? Thanks! Learning Linux Present operating system:Ubuntu 12.04 fully updated |
Does that go away with a reboot? With Ubuntu I've seen this annoying problem where if I move a window and I go too far; or if I hit one of the F-keys (I think either F4 or F6 because I would be aiming for F5 to refresh); the result is that all my windows become borderless. I lose some menus, some capabilities, and clearly cannot move my windows around. They're not maximized, but I can't grab and move or even resize because the borders are nonexistent. Mine goes away with a reboot. Writing this now I'm realizing that it typically happens when I move and get too close to the top of the desktop and that I've never tried to hit F4 or F6 to correct.

No it doesn't correct after a reboot. I never tried pressing f4 but f5 seems to work fine.

I've not tried any of these, but the first one is my recommendation, because you can check what your system shows before you follow the advice. The second one is likely an automated version of the first recommendation.

On my system, if I run gconf-editor and go to the correct tree showing the windowmanager setting I find that it says metacity. https://sites.google.com/site/xiangy...ons-how-to-fix I think this does what the first one does, but via a direct command. My concern is what else is it doing. |
