application/octet-stream problem


I have files having extension .pdf and .chm . When i tried to open them using "Document viewer" or "xCHM" it gave me "application/octet-stream" error in ubuntu10.10. Can you tell me the right application for ubuntu to open these files?Thanks in advance.......

chm file extension is help documentation compiled and saved in a compressed HTML format, with firefox or XCHM you could be able to open the file. However there is always a posibility that the file has an internal error.

pdf of course is adobe's acrobat format for documentation. Try to install kpdf viewer.
