Application loading in FC6 is extremely slow

am using a FC6 (with latest kernel) but i found loading any application is extremely slow. Say for example, click open-office word program or excel it takes lot of time to start or open. this is happening for all the programs.

I don't have any clue why this is happening?? can anybody throw some light in this matter?

Slower compared to what? Your previous kernel version? Before last updates? Another machine? F7? F8? Any recent problems with the machine? Anything in the logs that looks "weird"?

Run top to see if you have a program that is taking alot of cpu cycles, memory, etc.
Describe your system h/w.
Maybe you don't have enough Ram, and thus swapping ram to disk.
Are you running some extra/background stuff, eg anti-virus, selinux(?), encryption, etc.

Are we talking seconds or minutes?
