App install will not accept ./configure or Make command

Red Hat 8 Bible

# ./configure -prefix=/usr
build byteorder.c...
./configure: line 19: cc: command not found

Install File for HPing2.0.0-rc2

# ./configure
build byteorder.c...
./configure: line 19: cc: command not found

# make all
make: *** No rule to make target `all'. Stop.

# make make install
make: *** No rule to make target `make'. Stop.

# make install
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

What am I missing here. The documentation for HPing says that ./configure --force-libpcap is not needed.

Have you installed a compiler? If configure fails there's no reason to try make or make install.

./configure: line 19: cc: command not found

cc: that's your compiler. Install a c compiler and you'll be good to go, hopefully.

agreed with the above poster

you will need to get an rpm for gcc (the compiler) and you should be able to get it off the redhat cd and use their packaging tool

Installed the following RPM's
binutils
cpp
gcc
gcc-objc
glibc-devel
glibc-kernheaders
libgcc
make

Based on requirements - the install(s) went cleanly. However, I did manage to Make Makefile which was accepted. I need to work with the MAN pages for HPING before I request any more help. Thank you guys.
