APIC error+hda lost interrupt
 

I have installed SuSe 9.2 but it only works if i do it with ext2 filesystem. Both ext3 and reiser freezes. In any case there is an error message:
APIC error on CPU0: 00(40)
APIC error on CPU0: 40(40)
With ext3 and reiser the error message just scrolls and the install seems to have stalled, but with ext2 it passes.
Also there is a reoccuring error during boot and after an unclean reboot when fsck checks the filesystem:
hda: lost interrupt
This doesn't freeze the system but keeps coming up.

I've no idea whether these have anything to do with each other but the system clock doesn't work either. It seems to be too fast or way out of time at all.

Any ideas?

Hmmm ... could be something wrong in your hardware or the way Linux is detecting it. What does "hdparm /dev/hda" (run as root from the command line) show? If your clock is also screwy, it may mean there's a problem with your APIC (interrupt controller) chip on your motherboard. Do you notice strange results with other devices such as your network card?

Yes, my modem driver apparently have some errors too but I'm not too sure about that yet.
The system time is apparently ok in the adjust date/time window, but after adjusting it, it keeps losing it.
