apachetoolbox on suse9.1 --FIXED

thank you in advance. Its been several years since I last used linux so I am a born-again newbie.

its a fresh install of Suse9.1. I'm trying to install the apachetoolbox.

when I run the ./
I get this error
[+] -Checking for gcc... [FAILED] -required external resourced missing

[I had several other failures I squashed with some of suse's rpm's but this one I cant get].

I really dont know where to start on tracking this one down. [I've installed rpm packages for libgcc, glibc-devel, gcc, but I want to take an educated approach to this rather than an adhock].
