apachectl verse httpd
Do I need to do something to get apachectl ?
I've seen post from time to time about apachectl start. I've seen were is should be in /usr/local/apache/bin/ but there is no apache in the local dir. I've set up httpd.conf in my /etc/httpd/conf dir and able to serve up my index.html file fine. But when I do a httpd stop & then start it doesn't seem to stop. Is that because I'm missing the apachectl maybe ? I'm using using redhat 7.0 that came with redhat for dummies. |
Have you looked in /sbin or /usr/sbin for that file? ;)

No, not there. Is the httpd actually a different program from apache? I mean, httpd is serving up pages and all, I just didn't know if I was missing some features of apache, like not being able to shut down httpd, etc.

httpd is the apache deamon if I'm not mistaken
btw.. I went and found the apachectl on my own install.. /usr/bin/ |
Are you on 7.1?
