Apache2 running but httpd is not

(Using Ubuntu 8.04, apache 2.2.8-1ubuntu0.3)
I start apache as follows:
> apache2ctl start
then to see what is running:
>ps -e|grep apache2
21027 ? 00:00:00 apache2
21138 ? 00:00:00 apache2
21140 ? 00:00:00 apache2
21142 ? 00:00:00 apache2
21143 ? 00:00:00 apache2
21144 ? 00:00:00 apache2
21236 ? 00:00:00 apache2
>ps -e|grep httpd
When I run
>netstat -nlp | grep 80
(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info
will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all.)
tcp 0 0* LISTEN -

Shouldn't I see httpd running when I use ps?
Any help appreciated.

Some distributions name the apache binary httpd, others apache, or apache2.

I think you are saying that it looks like it is OK.

Now I need to figure out why PHP is not running.
Will ask about that in a new post.
