apache + mod_jk + tomcat configuration headache

Hi guys,
I'm setting up tomcat application environment and running into mod_jk configuration issue.

This is the quick overview of the setup.
Server #1 httpdev) Apache + mod_jk
Server #2 tomcatdev) Tomcat + webapps

Apache is running and it mod_rewrites to https. both http and https is working.

Tomcatdev is running and I can get to the main tomcat page using port 8080

but mod_jk is not forwarding the request to tomcat properly.

I don't know where to start the troubleshooting... any ideas would be much appreciated.

Apache loads mod_jk.conf
LoadModule	jk_module	modules/
JkWorkersFile	conf.d/
JkLogFile	logs/mod_jk.log
#JkLogLevel	notice
JkLogStampFormat	"[%a %b %d %H:%M:%S %Y] "
JkOptions	+ForwardKeySize +ForwardURICompat -ForwardDirectories
JkRequestLogFormat	"%w %V %T"
Here is my file.
