apache config

hi guys

I have been trying to install apache 2.2.4. i've got it installed etc. however when i try to access the server (lynx localhost) i get a forbidden page. i have checked the folder permissions and they all seem ok.

Has anyone got any ideas.

If you have not enabled directory browsing. Then there should be an index page..

there should be. but i get a page that says your are forbidden from viewing this page
