Apache 2.0 woes ( runnin on SUSE 8.2)
I installed apache2 on SUSE 8.2
For the life of me - I can't figure out how I am supposed to start the apache. All the commands I've found fo rstarting apache - simply have no effect. I'm not sure how to create the apachect1 file ( because I'm sure it doesn't exist on my system) . I've been scouring forums - but I've had no luck with this. Is there anyone who has actually managed to get Apache 2 running ( preferably on SUSE ) ? If so - what do I have to do ? Thx in advance.... |
You have several options actually. webmin is one:
www.webmin.com And the command ought to already be on your system, it's not a 1 though: apachectl That's an L not a 1. And, I believe, SuSE uses init scripts, so possibly a: /etc/init.d/apache start Would suffice. Welcome to LQ :) Cool |
Thanks so much for the reply. It finally dawned on me - after a eek of bashing my head against the monitor - that if apache 1.3 uses httpd
then maybe apache 2 uses httpd2! In light of my trivial but monumental discovery and your insight - I think Ill be ok!!! Thanks again ! |
