anything need to do different scripting on a mac than linux


hi guys,

i got a mac at home and I'm wondering if there is "stuff" i have to do different when writing awk and sed scripts on my mac at home than my linux at work?

Probably it will be different I dont know, but you could run the same distro you use at work in a virtual machine in your mac computer.

check the virtualbox web site https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Screenshots

It is really easy to set up
You probably already know all about VirtualBox anyway, lots of developers use to develop software for different platforms in the same computer.

Its possible that those tools and others are a little different; try the man pages on that system or maybe google for a more readable html set.

After dabbling a little I can confirm that most of the versions of command are either old or have reduced / different functionality

My sister has one and I tried to provide a few scripts for some menial tasks but none of them worked off the shelf and most of them were complete re-writes.
