Anybody made winmodem "netodragon" work
I have Netodragon modem and it is a winmodem, but I want to know if anybody "convinced" it to work. And if so can he/she help me out.
Thanks, Rok |
yes, I did.
1) http://www.linmodems.org 2) Download scanmodem tool and run it according to the instructions on the same website. 3) It will generate text files in the directory you run it in which will contain your modem information (even the name of the driver you need) 4) Download and compile the driver( post again if you are stuck at this point). 5) Use kppp or wvdial(I prefer this) to connect to your internet provider (many threads on this topic). later |
Hello again.
I downloaded the driver (slmdm-2.7.10_debug.tar.gz) for my modem. It's the one, that scanmodem tool suggested. Can somebody help me install it. thanks Rok |
hi
tar zxvf slmdm-2.7.10_debug.tar.gz you should have some readme or install files in there which should guide you regards rahul sundaram |
You need to have kernel-source installed on your machine in order to install the driver for this modem. Find out which kernel you have by doing this:
uname -r and then install the kernel-source for that particular kernel. After this do what rahul- said and follow the instructions of the text file in the folder where you uncompress everything. Good luck |
Modem works; system crashes
Hello,
I am running RedHat 9 and I have a Netodragon V.92 modem. I used the slmdm-2.7.10_debug driver and got the modem working, but now my system freezes up completely from time to time if I have an active connection to my ISP. The only error message I see in the log files says that the "driver does not match installed modem codec" If this is true, why does the driver work at all? When the system freezes, the lights on the keyboard (caps lock, num lock, etc) start flashing. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to fix it? I've never had a problem with the system freezing when the modem connection is not active. Thank you |
I have the same modem...thanks for this thread
