Any gaim-vv gurus out there?

Hi,

I installed my webcam (quickcam express) with the qc-usb driver, it works fine with gnomemeeting and xawtv, xcam... I want to do mostly messaging with my folks, but they have only M$, so I dloaded gaim-vv, installed also with some problems but now seems to be woking. I can send an invitation but the person on the other side sees only the screen whith the stupid MSN logo where my beautiful face should be (ok, they might be better off with the logo, but I want them to see my ugly face anyway...). BTW, they don't have a cam so I cannot check if the other way around works.

I'm thinking of trying out ayttm, but wanted to give gaim-vv a chance.

My connection is through adsl, and I set up the setup-adsl command to put the simple firewall option. maybe it helps. Any ideas? I asked in the sf page of gaim-vv, but that seems to be too quiet.

As far as I know, ayttm isn't capable of webcam viewing.

I've tried to use Gaim-vv as well.. but I can't get the "start video conversation" option in the menu.. somehow, it is not installed correctly. All the needen packages compiled nicely...

Well.. gaim-vv isn't that complete anyway

Did you pass the right parameters to the configure script of gaim-vv?

As said here, you have to configure it the following way:

Code:
./configure --with-libj2k=/usr --enable-linphone --enable-msn-vv --prefix=/usr
I think this needs the other packages (Libosip, Linbj2k, Linphone-IM) to be installed. I installed them before, configured and compiled gaim-vv with the above parameters and it finally worked. I am still testing around with my webcam, what to use best for video conferencing with MSN. Gaim-VV seems to be, if working, quite a good choice for me.

Regards,

Seppel
