Antivirus for Ubuntu Server to windows clients
 

Hi Guys, I need help on what open source anti virus software I can install on an Ubuntu server that will host windows xp and windows 7 clients. :)

AFAIK ClamAV (http://www.clamav.net/) is what most people use, and is packaged for Ubuntu as clamav.

You don't push updates to your Windows systems with ClamAV, it is intended to run server-side, scanning the files on the server, not the clients.
please be more verbose about what you want to achieve exactly, as I have understood your initial post (and i think the other posters, too) you want an antivirus solution for a Linux server that serves files to Windows machines. If that is not the case please explain what you want to do.

So you actually don't want the server to scan anything, but just deploying an installer to the client machines?
If so, just set up a simple fileserver, serving the installer of your favorite antivirus solution (it doesn't have to be a Linux AV solution at all) to the client machines, so that you easily can install it on the client machines. The client PC will automatically get the updates from the servers of the AV vendor/developer, if you are concerned about bandwidth usage a caching proxy server (easy to setup using Squid or Polipo) may help.

We actually have that setup on our windows server using Symantec unfortunately this av expired and we are looking for an interim solution which is an open source av software. I chose Clam AV as suggested and installed on my Ubuntu server but it doesn't have the capability or an executable compatible with windows clients but I'll try to check that out. I just need an AV server(linux) where all av clients(windows) to look at and get updates from it. Thanks TobiSGD
