another newbie question

Hi people... same old story I have read on the forums befor.. I'm a real newbie... just tring linux.. I've tryied installing about 4 diffrent distros, all have the same problem... when I go to boot into linux i get hung up on "searching for module dependancies" and then it sits there forever... never have I gotten past that in any distro... are there any ideas out there? does anyone think it might be hardware... I am dual booting it with XP.. i have read here that xp might rewrite some of the boot sequance, the thing is I don't have a floppy to make a boot disk. ARRHH sorry.. didn't mean to yell.. Any help would be great... Thanx

Sound real familiar to me. Tried Red Hat, Mandrake, Debian, Mandrake 9.2, Slackware all with the exact same problem. Unplugged my usb mouse and keyboard and everything's been fine since.

The kicker was that I had installed all these distros on this box before without any problems other than the typical problems with the nvidia video & network drivers. I just couldn't figure it out. Still can't actually. The usb mouse & keyboard work fine during install. They even work with the bios, which I didn't think they would without a driver. But once I had linux installed it would hang on boot everytime.

Hopefully you are having the same problem since it's easy to fix. Actually I figured it out from reading another post where someone was having the same problem after he installed a usb camera, so anything usb might be causing it.
