Another modem problem
 

New install of RH 7.1 I finally found a modem that would work with Linux :p This is my first time to this site on my new Linux box:D The problem is the modem works to good. It won't damn stop. when I disconnect it keeps reconecting until I unplug it. Then it sits there and click. I've experienced the 2 extreams of Linux modems (not working & won't stop working) I'd like to find the middle ground. Help

Are you running routed? The routing daemon regularly broadcasts for for routing info, which will cause your ppp dialup to initiate.

No, I checked the daemons like you suggested and routed isn't running. Also if that was the problem I would think it would do it all the time. The modem only attempts reconect after I've disconnected. I guess I wasn't real clear on that in my first post. Can you think of anything else? I can't
