Another Mgmt.o problem

Hello everybody,

I'm new to linux and have recently installed Mandrake 9.1, and am having some trouble with setting up my Alcatel USB Speedtouch modem.

The problem is, drakconnect is asking me to copy the file mgmt.o to usr/share/speedtouch...the problem is, even under root, i do not have permission to copy the file there. It always gives me an error: "Access denied", so I try changing the permissions in Mandrake Control Center, but none of them seem to be editable.

Please help!!

I had no end of problem with this , but I eventually sorted it out. Give me your email address and I'll send you the mgmt.o file to place in your usr/share/speedtouch directory.

You need to be logged in as root. So open a terminal, type

su root and give your password. You get a different prompt that ends with the # character

Type

cp /path/to/mgmt.o /usr/share/speedtouch/

that should do it.

I'm using Mandrake 9.0 and a speedtouch usb. I too cannot get it working. I copied the mgmt.o into /usr/share/speedtouch like the installer said.

Last night I managed to get on the net for 20 minutes then it suddenly stopped working again. And it hasn't worked since.

I know NOTHING about linux and finding my way around is a headache.
Can anyone help a noob?
