another guy with sound problems in FC3

Hi All,

I'm sorry to be yet another newbie to post problems with sound drivers in Fedora Core 3 but here goes.

MY soundcard is detected correctly, all is well, except NO SOUND!!!!!

Upon opening Alsa Mixer I have discovered that my Master Volume and PCM were set to 0. However, when i go to raise the level on these particular attributes. Nothing!
The level indicators do not work for Master and PCM attributes but do for Center, LFE, etc....
What can this be?

Any help on this would be very much appreciated. Im very much a Linux newbies so go easy on me if theres a simple quick fix.

How do you know that your sound has been detected correctly?? Have you had a look at what chipset your sound uses and made sure that the approriate module has been loaded??

as root do:

And check to see if the correct module is loaded.

I'm pretty certain this is my soundcard and checking against the alsa projects soundcard matrix from it suggests the intel_8x0 drivers are to be used.

Looks like the module is loaded try as root
You can look in /etc/modules.d/alsa and compare that with what it should be from the alsa site.
