Android Emulator to run OverDrive Media Console?

I am fairly new to Linux, but I think it's great so far! I am running Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid. The only shortcoming for me is not being able to download audiobooks from my library. The OverDrive Media Console is required to download and play the audiobooks. I noticed that the OverDrive Media Console is now available for Android. So, my question is, if I download the Android SDK Emulator, would I be able to run the OverDrive app with the emulator? Any ideas? I have downloaded the Emulator, but I need to do so more reading to get it installed and running. I was just wondering if anyone else has used the emulator to run Android applications on a Linux machine?

I'd use a much newer distro to start.

I'd try it on wine with windows.

Might look at the developer pages if any for the overdrive as to more about their andriod. I assume it will be of almost no use since it is for a phone. But like you say there might be an emulator for that phone model out there.

Thanks! I have tried running Overdrive with Wine. The splash screen appears as though it is starting, but then I get an error message.

I have done quite a bit of Googling, too, and I haven't found anyone who's been able to run it on Linux. When I noticed that Overdrive had released an Android version, I was just thinking that I might be able to use the Android Emulator to run the Overdrive console on Linux.
