heyyyyyyyy people!
thanx for all the help - what i did end up doing was taking my lil bro's monitor, to see if it was the monitor that was set up bad - but it was a driver issue. anyway, i re-insalled linux again, and this time i selected VESA drivers - i dont know where i read that, but it seemed to work - now i am using the correct (radeon) drivers after getting it to work - its kinda strange!

anyway, now i have a bigger problem - how on EARTH am i supposed to do something called 'compiling' - because i wanna install my adsl modem on linux - i think im gonna give it a go - hope it works!
thakx again!

bye

With tools that include a "compiler" usually known as gcc:
www.google.com/linux OR
www.freshmeat.net www.gnu.org www.sf.net

Cool

right, so now that i have got my compiler thingy set up, and now that the drivers seem to have installed - i dont know how to configure them - the US Robotics website i think is a little too complicated for me to follow - i am pretty unsure as to how it all works.

i mean, what my isp gave me is this:
login: 5aboy@gotadsl.co.uk
password:********
and thats all - what other things do i need and its PPPoA that i am working with, with MD5CHAP Authentication, whatever that means!
any help would be duly appreciated!
thanx.

J.C.

I've only been using Linux one f-ing week but even I know how to do a SEARCH. I have a machine right now that's giving me 37 flavors of h@ll but I still get it done. Ya just gotta TRY and only resort to posting when you are at your wits end....

Friggin use Redhat9 if you're this confused. Closest I've seen to 'Linux for (ahem) dummies' No offense intended, but probably received nonetheless.

Flame on, dude....

Sorry, just peeved at the apparent lack of effort - Linux cannot not be spoon-fed to US noobs like Windoze.... mmmm.... YUCK.
