Arrow Amsn... i need help!!

i have recently downloaded the new version of Amsn 0.95! i have used their FAQ to help me un-tar and gzip it! The problem is when i click on the icon i get this message:
"You can't load TkCximage, this is now needed to run aMSN. Please compile aMSN first, instructions on how to compile are located in the INSTALL file."
i really cannot understand how to do it! can someone please explain to me how i can compile it and get it to run!!
thanks
Marc

I recently downloaded and compiled the same package, and it worked just fine on my system (Slack 10.1) - I did choose to install all of the tcl/tk/tx packages. What distro are you using? Did you install tcl/tk/tx?

Okay, me using Slackware, i'm not entirely familiar with suse. From your post you stated that you downloaded the tcl package. Were you able to compile and install it? If so, did you also download, compile and install the tk package? Tcl and Tk are 2 parts of the whole and the error seems like its looking for a tk function.

you might want to try a different chat program. amsn from my memeory was a little bit weak and it might be better to get either gaim or kopete.
other than that follow the instuctions in the INSTALL file??

proabably somewhere along the lines of
./configure
make
make install (as root)

and install the other libs that ille.pugil42 sugested.

as a backup to the previous post, I downloaded amsn just to test it out, I'm using kopete and am rather happy with it.

I am having the exact same problem. I've installed tk tcl and now I have to compile aMSN by typing ./configure. Thought that would be easy enough because its the same process for installing most programs on Linux.

The problem is configure does not exist or I can't seem to find it anywhere. You would think it would be located in /usr/share/amsn with all the other files.

How did everyone else compile aMSN?

Being that my prev post was 2 months ago - I can't remember completely. I do recall that I had no problem compiling and running it - I just didn't like the interface and have settled on gaim. I'll have to redownload amsn to test it out.

aMSN wouldn't run because Selinux was enabled. I think I too will go with gaim.
