aMSN configure error, HELP!

when I run ./configure in the amsn-0.95 directory as root;

[root@it-03 rletourneau]# cd amsn-0.95/
[root@it-03 amsn-0.95]# ./configure -with-tkconfig=/usr/lib/tk8.4

./configure: line 3162: /usr/lib/tkConfig.sh: No such file or directory

I know this is a common problem, but I have tried many times to fix it. Tried searching the web for fixes and ideas on how to fix it with no success. Tried copying a tkConfig.sh file from the web to a vi tkConfig.sh file in the /usr/lib/ directory but it hangs when the ./configure is run. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I must confess that I have never used/compiled amsn messenger. However, I googled the last line of the error you received and came across the following.

Um, not sure if I am allowed to post links to other forums but here goes.

See Here

It seems as though you need to run 'locate -u' as root to update your database and then try and recompile.

Incidentally, you do not need to run 'configure' as root. You should run 'configure' and 'make' as normal user, and then su to root when you run 'make install'.

I hope this helps.
