amazon prime 64bit adobe flash
 

I finally get Amazon Prime and now I can't get it to work. It tells me to install the latest version of Adobe Flash but it doesn't have my distro listed so it doesn't install.

I'm running Debian 64bit 7.2 or 7.5.

When I follow the links to Adobe's page for the 64bit, I can see an RPM or a Ubuntu install method. When I do the Ubuntu because it is APT, it doesn't do anything.

How do I get this installed?

I think you'll want to enable the non-free debian repos and install flashplugin-nonfree.

If the above gives you lots of errors it's likely the package is a little different in Ubuntu to Debian.
If the above works but doesn't help then you could install Google Chrome which has a far more up to date flash plug-in installed.
If both of those fail you may need, the now deprecated, HAL but you might get that to work.

Install Chrome?

When I checked my PC out, I already had the non-free installed. I did go to the page and try an update but it said that nothing was updated. When I go to Adobe page, it says that I need version: 11.2.202.378, but I don't know what version I am using. I have Chromium and Iceweasel. Isn't that the same as Chrome and Firefox?

iceweasel and firefox are the same. the latest chromium does not have the "pepper" flash integration that chrome comes with. and as of version 35, chromium no longer supports the old flash netscape plugin.

When I suggested installing Google Chrome I meant Google Chrome from Google and not the free Chromium.
The latest version of Flash for browsers other than Google Chrome in Linux does, indeed, seem to be 11.2.202.378. So I would again suggest installing Google Chrome and seeing whether that works.

Anything that needs the latest flash player will require Chrome if you're in Linux, or wine/VB, but I'd still go with Chrome. They stopped releasing flash for Linux.

Can I just APT chrome or is that not good to do?

No, you have to download the relevant .bed file from Google -- but that should then add the necessary repository to keep it up to date. Google chrome cannot be found in the Debian repositories.

i think it would be because google chrome is not all open source (it has proprietary flash baked inside). although it is based on open-source chromium.
