Amarok has taken over my storage drive?

Amarok has taken over my storage drive? Every time I open the link that pops up when I turn on my Maxtor external drive, Amarok player starts up and I can't get to my files on the device?
I really do not like Amarok and I need access to my exturnal drive. Is there a better simpler player. Something not so bulky without all of the extra trash. Something like RX Player in Roxio for Windows. Should I delete Amarok if there is a better player? Plus How do I stop the association to ex drive. I deleted Amarok once & when I tried to enter my storage device I got an error message saying it couldn't find Amarok. Oh sorry almost forgot my O.S. Mandriva 10.2 L.E.

Tnx. to anyone who can help.:D

sounds like Amarok has associated itself with the data on the drive. You need to figure out where the external hard drive is mounted and navigate there while the hard drive is on (while Amarok is playing). Once you get there try right clicking on one to see what you can find. If there is an option to change what program opens the files, try xmms. (The Xmms code is a mess, but it is still a rather good player.)

Don't delete Amarok, if you have enough space to leave it be. It just makes everything easier.

EDIT - A good first step would be to examine your /etc/fstab file to see where it mounts everything.

Thanks for the come back xpromisex. I don't know what caused this. The trouble started the expand into my
home directory shortly after I posted. I felt at that time I had no choice but to format and reload Mandriva. Yes it was a pain, but it seems that everything is back to normal. I didn't lose any data as I keep it every thing on external storage drives. I will still be looking for a better music media player because that is where I believe this all started from. :D

Tnx again.
