Alternative to Microsoft Access

Hi guy's just another question to all you guros , does linux have something alternative to Microsoft Access if so what is and can you also run this on Windows system.

well yes, the latest (2.0 beta) does include 'Base', which is similar in look / feel to Access, but as of now, i don't believe it can work with Access / Microsoft Jet databases..

For cross-platform use, might it be worth looking at something like MySQL, with ODBC connectivity to OpenOffice or MS Access as required?
