Altering system messages in Slackware 10.1

How do you alter the system messages generated by Linux? (I have slackware 10.1)
I was thinking something like changing the 'access denied' message to 'uh uh uh, you didn't say the magic word' - Preferably with an animation :P

I searched tons of source code that came with the CDs for the string "Access denied" so that I could alter it, but I didn't find it. And even if I had found it, I wouldn't be able to do anything but to alter the string itself (thereby messing up the whole system I'd guess.)

Can you help me with this thing, in order for me to experience the potential of Linux - the customizable OS?

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

It would help to know in which context you're getting
that "access denied" you wish to change ;-}
