Unhappy ALSA Install Trouble

Hi, If this is addressed somewhere else, please direct me there....

I get no sound from my Cirrus Logic onboard sound. CS4236?

I tried loading the stable version of Alsa. I follow the steps, but get an error during the config - 'MAKEFILE.CONF' not found.

Shouldn't this sound card be supported by the Kernel? When I boot, it attempts to load a module for CS4610, but errors out of that. (I can get the specifics of the error later)....

You are probably getting the error because you didn't install the developers package when you installed Mandrake (the default is to not install). Install that and the source code and try the instructions again--they should work then.

Thanks for the info...
Which disks are required for the Developers package? Any idea?

I'm not sure--I only had the first three disks and installed with everything else. The RPM manager ought to tell you which disk to put in
