Alpha Release


I was just curious on a Alpha Release For example. Fedora 12 alpha release. What exactly is alpha. I assume its the first of 12 release. Correct or no?

It's basically a very premature release of version 12 for testing purposes. The system is not expected to work perfectly, and people who have the time and interest can try it out to report bugs, just in time for the final release (Fedora 12).
