ALL Linux Distro's AND MIDI???

Hi everyone,

I am new here and have a quick question about LINUX (ALL Distro's) and MIDI.

Why is it that MIDI Implementation on ANY Distro of Linux is so convoluted and difficult. I would like to switch over to Linux Mint (from Win 7 and Win 10) but getting it to work with a MIDI Keyboard is SO difficult and tedious.

Why hasn't somebody fixed this?

And are there any GOOD (and or EASY) FREE MIDI Player/Recorders out there like Cakewalk or PowerTracks?

I hope someone has a solution (or a fix) for this...

Thanks,

Joe Schutts

I can't remember the last time I tried to play a *.mid file, but I think the entry on midi in the Arch Wiki can answer many of your questions: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MIDI
