Most likely it involves reading the instrucionts for configuring X a second time and doing it right this time...

True, but RTFM != advice

TheMadAd19 - based on your description, it sounds like the file that controls your monitor display is not configured correctly for your system. Please list the technical specs of your system (brand and model number, etc) and please post your current XF86Config file or your xorg.conf file (Sorry I can't be more specific but I don't use Debian so I'm not sure which one your system is using. In either case, the file would be in the /etc/X11 directory) If you want to be more proactive you can try re-running the X setup routine (aka xwmconfig, etc) manually, however, that process will ask you a variety of technical questions about your video card, monitor, etc, so be prepared. -- J.W.

OK, and what monitor are you using? Also, can you post the contents of your current XF86Config or xorg.conf file? -- J.W.
