AHHH me modem...

i just finaly got around to getting linux (first time) i talked to my friend and he told me redhat is the way to go so i got that. any way the install goes fine and everything works but then i try to setup my internet. btw im on gnome, any way i use the installer and im pretty sure i set everything up right but when i go to connect it dials and everything but when the connection window comes up its blank and when i try to use netscape it gives me an error on how i cannont acces and websites.
Has this happend to anyone, can some please help a learning newbie?

Hi ,

First verify if ur connected to the internet ..... do ifconfig and u should see pppd daemon up an running ( if ur connected)
u should see the /var/log/messages file for reasons why u were not able to connect to the internet.

If ur not able to connect then write to me at with details about the tings u tried and the error messages u were getting and so on.
