Afterstep and WindowMaker not quite loading
 
I installed these from the distro's repository. It seems that others have Afterstep (at least) working. I posted on the forum there several days ago and no one has replied with a suggested cause or fix.

Both window managers get through what seems to be most of the loading process but then I find myself back at the log-in screen.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be amiss? :scratch:

I managed to record strace of wmaker. These are the last few lines:
[Deleted - this seems to be a distro bug]
Those directories do not exist and the files are nowhere on the system. :confused:

The Window Maker problem seems to be a distro bug. These are the last lines of strace from AfterStep:
