after inactivity screen becomes flickery

after i leave my RH9 for a bit, the screen turns off, and when i move the mouse to get it back on i get screen problems.

initally i had flicker on the side all the time, and after incativity the screen will be shifted about halfway though to the bottom.
i updated my nvidia driver, and then the flicker was gone.
now when i resume after inactivity, i do not get the shifted screen, but lots of flicker. any ideas?
or at least how to turn off the option for turning the screen off after some time of inactivity? thanks!

hi, thanks for your question:

my graphics card is nvidia ge force 2 go, updated with the newest driver from nvidia

my computer is a dell inspiron 8100 laptop with a UXGA display that gives max resolution of 1600x1200

the display utility probes it as generic 1600x1200 and if i replace it by dell 1600x1200 laptop display nothing changes.

by the way i am running at 1600x1200 now and everything is so small bu the last time i lowered the resolution, the screen just shrunk and i got a black border around it! (but that was b4 driver update, i will check again if that fixes it)
