After first boot, reboots continuosly

I have kernel 2.4.27, compiled as i586 for NS-Geode 300Mhz processor. The kernel was able to boot first time, and crashed under kernel panic, I dont recall the complain, but when I now do the power on reset of the board, grub menu comes up, kernel is detected and
during uncompressing the kernel, continuos reboot happen. I do not know what happened after the first boot. Any direction would really be appreciated,
Thanks in Advance.

Sounds like your hard drive or memory is going or the kernel image itself has been corrupted. Try booting a memtest86+ floppy and testing your memory. If it tests out OK, you can boot off of a floppy/LiveCD and check out your disk.
