Advise how to play AVI's & MPG's with SUSE 10

I've read and looked and RTFM as much as I can...So now I'm asking for your help...Is there a way (preferably simple way) to watch mpg's and/or Avi's with a full install SUSE 10 distro?..I keep telling my friends linux is the way to go ( I believe it is ) ...I'm sure there's an answer I just can't find it...

Thanks for your help

Hello and welcome to Linux Questions.
What do you mean by simple? I am unfamiliar with Suse, but for all my viewing, listening pleasures there are alot of applications available that would be "easy".
Personally for movies/avi's/wmv's I use Xine or Mplayer...both of these have front ends too for easy GUI pleasure, and XMMS or Amarok rule the music world.
Hope that helps some. These are just my preferences, everyone has there own. Good Luck.

Check the SuSE forums here. It is really easy and fast to install all that multimedia capability. You could be up and running in mere minutes. You just need to add a repo or two, run YAST, select the packages, hit next a few times and you are good to go.
