Advice on Setting Up NEW XP Professional and Ubuntu 11.04 on Raid 0 (nvidea)

Hello All,

my old xp is too slow, so I am intending on re-installing from scratch. I will first raid 0 my drives. Then install XP, followed by Ubuntu.

From browsing on net it seems many people have problems with dual booting. (I did several years back)

So would appreciate any advice, and can you recommend any simple Free boot managers that are tried and tested.

Can/will do some editing of Boot manager if required.

Best regards

I've never had a problem dual booting Windos XP with Ubuntu (grub bootloader). Currently on Ubuntu 10.04.

The problems might be with newer Windows versions ?

Assuming this is software raid, it might require more than I have experience with (hardware raid is soooooooo..... much easier ;) )

Are you using a hardware or software raid configuration? If it is hardware just install Windows first and make sure you have the proper drivers. Then install Ubuntu and all should go well. I have dual booted the two OSes on a raid 5 before without incident.

I'd boot to the live cd of your choice to see how well it reads your raid array before I went too far.
