advice on kernel upgrade

hello,

i have recently bought a new wireless keyboard and mouse (logitech cordless desktop ex110), to use with my slackware system. the keyboard works, but the mouse will not, and i think that i need to upgrade my current kernel version (2.4) to a 2.6. i dont want to have to create a custom kernel if i can help it, and i know that there are various kernels on my slackware 11 dvd. ive been using the 'huge', but have read that its geared more toward installing the system, and it is better to install a more appropriate kernel for day to day use, so which should i go for, and how would i go about switching the kernel on my system?

There is an earlier thread detailing how to upgrade to a 2.6 kernel:

I'm not a slackware user so I can't say much more.

Before you go ahead you should probably check out your keyboard/mouse compatibility as best you can with google, just to help make sure you are not wasting your time with a kernel upgrade. But quite likely with popular brand-name hardware a newer kernel would fix it.
