Try the Rute tutorial as it has a lot of very good info. I'd say if you can work through most or all of it you will have solid intermediate Linux skills. If you're interested in setting up servers I'd suggest you check out some of the O'Reilly books relating to your particular interest.

hello ankur(namaste!!good to see another indian on these forums!)

i'm nearly at the same level as u r and so can see ur difficulties.

the first thing i suggest is use the internet instead of any books,if you have ready access. http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Unix-and-Inter...mentals-HOWTO/
this is a link to esr's excellent beginner's unix tutorial.it might help you.
try to ask any and all questions on forums like this.the guys here are pretty decent and will help you if they can.
in case u don't have net access, try to google for"linux book torrent"and download linux ebooks(o'reilly or any other)using some bittorrent client(i suggest azeureus:google for it).see through these before u buy any physical books.this will save u money and get u the book u really need.
if u have to get a new linux package(in case u dont have one already),i'd suggest ubuntu linx(google again :))
it is very friendly to beginners and easy to install.i downloaded it today, and i'm very impressed by it.
decide whether u want only linux or a dual boot system(like i will have)with both linux and windows.this is till u become good enough to run linux alone.

and try to give better titles.btmiller must be very decent to answer your question .most people would just ignore it.try this link to
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
how to ask good questions on forums.

hope this helps.stay in touch and share ur experience.
