ADSL - VPI/VCI Settings

Hi, Total Linux newbie here, SuSE9 went in like a dream, found all hardware including: Conexant PCI adsl Modem. configured and used suggested VCI/VPI setting of 0.38 for a BT line - but will not connect, it seems to be this setting that is the problem. By the way Linux seems to be hard work but I really want to give it a go, all the new jargon is very confusing, please keep it plain and simple.

By the way any one here from the Dundee area Linux user group, would like to make contact with others to learn more.

Thanks

I think the VCI/VPI setting you should use is mentioned in the manual of the modem.
At least it was in mine.
(I use that stupid green frog)

The vpi number is 0 ans the vci number is 38 for a bt line.

If you cant connect try a different synch bin file, all available from flashtux

hops this helps

Thanks guys, is that 0.38 or just 38?

If your entering the number into a vpi/vci field, put "0,38" without the quotes

or if asked individully then enter seperate.

Thanks again, will try that when I've re installed - getting kernal panic and cannot get into maintennance mode. Have changed drive config in PC so my fault! Steep learning curve this! (But fun)
