adsl using pppoe on mandrake

I went to roaring penguins page and downloaded the source rpm lik I believe I am suppose too.

Type this like it said:

Rebuilding a binary RPM
To build a binary RPM for your RPM-based system (e.g. Mandrake), download the source RPM file and type:

rpm --rebuild rp-pppoe-3.5-1.src.rpm

ok done that... after it finished doing its thing next instructions are:

This will generate a binary RPM which you can install as described next.

Installing using RPM
If you downloaded the RPM file, type:

# If you don't want the GUI:
rpm -Uvh rp-pppoe-3.5-1.i386.rpm
/usr/sbin/adsl-setup

# If you do want the GUI
rpm -Uvh rp-pppoe-3.5-1.i386.rpm rp-pppoe-gui-3.5-1.i386.rpm
/usr/bin/tkpppoe

Ok I want the gui so I typed: rpm -Uvh rp-pppoe-3.5-1.i386.rpm rp-pppoe-gui-3.5-1.i386.rpm

but after that it keeps telling me no such file or dir... so please help me. Im confused as usual

does anyone know ???

RHmicko 10-29-2003 04:31 PM

Do the rpm's install ok? If so just change to the /usr/bin directory and type tkpppoe. Sorry if this sounds like I'm teaching you to suck eggs. If you're not having much success have you tried to download the tar file and then run ./go-gui in the rp-pppoe-3.5
directory it creates.

I hope this is helpful. Im new to this too.

*sigh*

Sounds similar to a problem I had. Can you post the full error when you try to connect and I will check it out tomorrow, or maybe another board member can help during the night.

Thanks.
