This is progress!
This tells us that eth0 is definitely your Acer (Broadcom) card, and eth1 is the Centrino wireless. The presence of an address and RX packets and bytes with no errors indicates that the card is working. Can you ping 192.168.0.1?
Also, let's confirm your physical hookup. The phone line goes to the DSL modem, an ethernet cable connects the modem to the router's WAN port, and your computer connects via ethernet cable to the LAN or switch ports of the router. Is that all true?
If you can ping the router, can you bring up its web interface in your browser?

I'm not familiar with the SFW2-OUT-ERROR message; I'll have to look it up. It is possible that it is a transient message that only happens during boot, but I'm not seeing it in my dmesg output.

VICTORY!!! I'm sending this from Linux via the ethernet router, so I've got everything to work. I've already gone to my football club's fan site (www.bsad.org for Watford, if you must know) and now I'm here.

Fantastic to be able to start work with this at last. My eternal gratitude goes to everyone who helped me get past the obstacles along the path.
