I would like to know if it's possible to use a terminal instead of net_monitor (im using mandrake 8.2) to connect?

And if it is, how can I?

Thanks :p

ok...you need to give a load more of information if you want some real help. Who's your company, what's your modem, what kind of dsl interface do you use to connect i.e. PPPoE.

ok, adsl modem (non-USB), company: Sympatico (from Quebec, Canada), PPPoE

Not that I am an expert on networking or anything, in fact, I don't know much at all about that. But with my ADSL, non usb modem, with a DHCP server, all I have to do is have my ethernet card configured, do a ifconfig up eth0 and I am on. No, getting on using any protocol, yes dhcpd, but that's just for the IP address. I open a browser, type and address, and it goes there. That's it. I am guessing this isn't the same for you. How do you do it?

well, i'm using mandrake so, to connect, I use the net_monitor. But, I don't know why but:
1- It doesn't want to connect half of the time
2- When I try to configure my connection to begin on startup, it dont work. so, I have to open the net_monitor, each time I open my session, enter root password and then it connects (half of the time).

Ok, it works but I would like to know if it is possible to use an other way than using the net_monitor because it doesn't work very well (for me). Are there other programs or command that I can use to connect?

thx
