Hello,

I am new to Linux and do not know my way around it well. I am unable to open any site that require Adobe Flashplayer yet it looks as if it was installed. I have tried to update it,but cannot figure out what to do beyond the point where the files are unzip...... Can someone please guide me through this? Thank you

It sounds like you tried to install it from the Adobe website.

It is generally better to install any software from your distribution's repositories.

I would recommend finding flash in the repositories and downloading it from there.
If you tell me what distribution you are using I might be able to give you more specific directions.

What do you mean by "it looks as if it was installed"? What makes you think that. Getting flashplayer to work is not difficult. It involves copying the file libflashplayer.so to the correct folder. The correct folder is usually this one: /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/ Try copying libflashplayer.so to that folder and then restarting Firefox (I'm assuming you're using Firefox, yes?). Your problem should then be solved.
