adjusting resolution on widescreen laptop
hi,i got a zd7000 laptop from HP. its 17" and has resolution of 1440*900. Mandrke 9.1 does not offer this as a choice in its list of resolutions. as a result only a portion of my screeen is used.
What shud i do so as to get the screen covered totally ? Thanx. |
Hi. You posted this a while ago, so I don't know if you're still waiting for a response, but....
Try editing /etc/X11/XF86Config. There's a line (or maybe more) starting with Modes. put "1440x900" as the fist pair of values on the Modes lines. Dave. |
Hey, just wondering, how is the zd7000 working for ya? Sleep and all the good stuff notbooks have working? I was going to get one, and run linux also. Does everything work, and did you get your MS rebate?
I was waiting for the Apple G5 powerbooks to come out just so I could get that size of screen, but I'd much rather have a x86 processor, and HT to boot. Thanx, Stan |
Hey,

ZD7000
Thanks for the post. Ive been to the zd7000 forum, unfortunatly i have the 15" screen and all the people there have the 17" screen. It has a different resolution and I am having trouble adapting their X config files. Thanks anyways. Mabey the gentoo forum will help a little. If any one knows anything about configuring x and the nvidia driver, please help. I can get x to use the nvidia driver but when x loads the screen is compressed and only on the left half of the screen. Thanks again.
Thanks, Bill |
