Address Book Disappeared in KMail

When I first opened KMail, I thought Tools -> Address Book opened the address book. Now, it does nothing. How do I get it to work again. Help!

Did you recently upgrade KDE? Unfortunately KMail and Kontact keep some of their data in the $HOME/.kde directory. If you upgraded KDE then this directory could have been destroyed or messed up.

When I upgraded KDE I lost my address book and my email filters. I'm very upset at the KDE folks about it. Mainly I'm angry at the KMail and Kontact people for keeping the data files in that directory, especially since I keep my email in a maildir at $HOME/Mail, so as far as I'm concerned my other KMail and Kontact files should have been stored there.

I think this might be what happened. Some file probably got corrupted. I wonder if it wouldn't hurt to uninstall & then reinstall both KDE & Kontact.

Anyways, I've decided to use another e-mail program for now.

Thanks for your help.
